Vietnamese Drip Iced Coffee in Seven - by popular request
01 - get the gear together including 2 tablesoons (T) of any coffee ground medium, sweetened consensed milk, a church key, a 1T measure, a drip filter, a clear glass tumbler and some means to boil a few ounces of water:
![]() 02 - crack open the sweet milk and dribble 2T into your tumbler while coffee grinds and water boils: ![]() 03 - measure 2T of coffee approx into the filter taking care to leave it level and not quite covering the top of the screw/stud ![]() 04 - screw the filter press down as (finger) snug as possible. Loose is not good but don't bother with a screwdriver. This is when levelling the coffee and leaving the stud exposed pays off. Woot! ![]()

Re: Veitnamese Drip Iced Coffee in Seven - by popular request
05 - add boiling water into the filter basket, now sitting atop your tumbler, to about 1/4 capacity - not more. If the drip begins fast and pale, your press is too loose, the grind is too coarse and/or the coffee was not well levelled before the press was screwed down.
After the initial water has dripped thru, loosen the press by 1/4 turn amd top off the basket with boiling water. ![]() 06 - Cover the basket and expect about a 10-minute extraction. If it's much faster than 10-minutes practice your level and press screw-down technique and/or grind coffee a bit finer until you find the sweet spot. ![]() 07 - Remove the empty filter, stir the condensed milk and coffee thoroughly, top the glass with ice and - if you wish - top off with skim milk or milk of your choice. Skim still leaves a plenty-rich drink. Add chocolate syrup to taste if you go that way. Make one more, invite me over, and lets have a coffee and cigar. Or make one for the little lady. This is an outstanding sweet coffee drink by any standards. Even with grocery store coffee you will outperform $3.00 Snarbuz Flappaccinos at a cost of about $0.35/glass. Anyone can make this drink - everyone will enjoy this drink. ![]()

Re: Vietnamese Drip Iced Coffee in Seven - by popular request
I grabbed a couple of these brewers today at an Asian Import Store for about a Dollar more than a Venti Frappachino, I usually would brew a little extra coffee in the morning and throw it in a pitcher for Iced Coffee. I have been a fan of Sweeetened Condensed Milk for a while. If I do not feel like black coffee, this is a way to sweeten it without a lot of fat. And like Mr. Moo said, it can cover up even a grocery store coffee. I made a Decaf using Walmart Brand Decaf Coffee and it covered up the the chemical taste it usually has.
This is a pretty easy method. The brewer worked great. Now I have to try it for black coffee.

Thanks for the step by step. I'll be trying this around 3 PM today after we return to the homestead from our camping trip. Now I don't have to google it!
