A Shout Out to EvanS

After reading his last couple of posts in the RRA thread, I pm'ed Evan and asked if he would give me a call. I did not say why, or anything else. Within half an hour, Evan calls me, from work no less, to answer some questions about roasting. Because we use the same roster, and our roasting times were varying so much, I just wanted to see what, if anything, he was doing different. I thought it was a perfect example of what makes this place so great, him taking the time out to call me.

Evan, it was great talking to you, and thanks again for the call.

I wondered about him in the begining, but learned he was from Cali and it all became clear.





He is definately top notch and has a great sense of humor. Too bad he is so old. He will probably forget most of what we need to learn from him.

So true. There isn't a gorilla here that I wouldn't hesitate to give my number or give a call. Glad you guys were able to help each other with the search for coffee nirvana. I know I have had some good convos on Skype that have really helped me out. Even having the coffee threads available, and all the ninjas just a PM away is a very helpful tool. Good on ya EvanS.

It was a pleasure talking to you as well Doyle, just in general. Not to mention hearing the trials and tribulations of others roasting the same bean with the same roaster at the same altitude, just different electric company and barometric pressure. This type of sharing, all across CS for a multitude of topics, IS what makes this a great place. It's the people man, the people

I'm still surprised though that the changes you made still did not change the time of the roast. BUT like you said, YOU are getting roasts that more accurately reflect what the FR8 people claim via the manual...whereas my roasts appear to be taking longer than "normal". But to tell the truth I am grateful for that as I have more time to react to things. And as Zack will attest, I need that reaction time at my age

No thanks - but I am eyeballing some driveway cleaner/rust remover
