Bodum Antigua grinder comments??

I do believe I'm giving up the blade mill for a burr mill. I don't need anything extremely fancy or robust, just a daily coffee mill for my new gifted French press and the standard drip maker. After some looking around and reading reviews, I've come up with the Bodum Antigua burr mill. Anyone here have one of these they can comment on? I value you guy's word more than some random reviewers. I know you get what you pay for, especially for less than $100, and I don't care to have a manual grinder (sorry Mr.Moo).

Re: Bodum Antigua grinder comments??

Word on the street: like everything coffee, the Bodum Antigua has warts and blemishes including noise, too much plastic, static, dust, etc., but will produce a passing grind for all needs up to espresso*. It has been the best regarded budget burr mill for many years. Others here may have better advice.

* some who have not used a commercial grade grinder will claim the Antigua is capable for espresso. Similarly, some who have not driven a formula-one automobile may claim a Buick is a great handling car. This can be touchy ground(s) for certain Buick owners who just haven't thought it all the way through yet. YMMV.

For the price like Mr.Moo stated not bad but I would save a few more pennies you might be able to pick something better up.

Re: Bodum Antigua grinder comments??

It is a good budget grinder. We've experienced two returns, where "It just died" was the common theme. Luckily all were under warranty and Bodum replaced pronto. What this means: the other 18 Antiguas we sold are out there without a whisper of trouble. Are there better model. Yep.

Select wisely.

I have one of the 18 that are still out there. I love it and use it daily. I don't make espresso so not a problem for me. If you get one I would recommend the stainless steel version.

I don't think any one can say a buick handles well!
