Wow, I'm glad I stopped in here

Been on CS for a little while but up until a week or so ago hadn't bothered to do much in the coffee forum. My new burr grinder arrived today as well as my first order of Killer Beans. Moka pot has not arrived so used my drip pot. Opened up the Nicaraguan Knife Fight and tested the new grinder. This may be the best cup of drip coffee I've ever had.

What he said - and how did you brew the coffee.? It sounds like you have made the right moves toward making coffeed that actually tastes great. It's so cool to drink coffee that actually tastes great whenever you want it! I love the title of your thread - sez it all. Glad you stopped here, too.

There are plenty of places to read about coffee and "how-to" brew the stuff, but I know we have excellent information and the most cordial,well-informed personal resources. The real-deal route to mindboggling brew comes in honest doses from the nicest folls around. Cigar and pipe puffers around the globe are having a nicer cup with their smokes these days. As your skills and coffee quality improve I hope you'll be here to help the next guy along.

Happy New Year!

Re: Wow, I'm glad I stopped in here

I got this grinder http://www.amazon.com/Capresso-Infin...8507539&sr=1-2

I just used my regular coffee pot to brew it. The moka pot will hopefully arrive tomorrow so I can begin learning that.

My wife mentioned today she'd like a nice espresso machine, must be able to do foaming as she doesn't like espresso, but likes latte. That will be fine with me as long as I can choose it.....probably a ways away though.

That grinder should be fine with a mokapot as long as the beans are freshly roasted. Good luck with it.

How fresh is freshly roasted? Does storing them in a vaccuum sealed container extend the life?

Not more than 10-15 days post roast if you want a mokapot to do its' thing. There must be many places in your area to get freshly roasted coffee.

Keep beans in an airtight container, away from heat/light. Don't freeze or refrigerate. Grind immediately before use. Have a cigar.

Re: Wow, I'm glad I stopped in here

There goes Dennis!

I bought a very similar grinder to that capressa one before being forced into upgrading to another one when I bought the Gaggia as I was told the grind wouldn't be fine enough for machine.

Mine is a Krupps and was light years ahead of my blade grinder.

I followed Mr Moo's Moka Pot thread to the tee and finally have the Moka Pot down to the point of glorious emulcification nearly every brew.
