Probably the stupidest first post ever... looking for glasses...
Might as well give a quick intro huh!
I've been a cigar smoker for maybe 4 years now. I used to be an active member over on CP and Snobs, but have been rather idle the last year or so. Probably has something to do with the birth of my son 9.5 weeks back! Anyway, always been a bit of a coffee snob. Ever since my first trip to the Domincan Republic when i tasted the coffee they had to offer (which is also where I started smoking cigars). In my mission to find similar coffee to that (and the stuff I drank in Mexico) I came across Jerry, and have been a customer ever since. The last couple months I've been struggling to expand my horizons. Drinking a mug in the morning at the afternoon every work day for the last so many months leaves you wanting something fresh and new. So I moved into a French Press (albeit still using a blade grinder). Obvioulsy, with the addition to my family, tight budgets have surfaced. So I found a used Solis 166 for $50, that should show up this weekend. And in my every lasting quest to find the right espresso machine on a new dads budget, I decided to go with a Nespresso C100 for the time being. I pulled one off craigs for $160, and I must say so far I am very pleased. Although it is my goal in the next 12-24 months to have a real machine with a real grinder (but I am very happy with what I have right now). That being said, I have plans to pick up a 6-cup Moka pot, and a 2-cup Brikka. Those 2 devices should allow me to experiment with my own beans to expand my faux espresso tastes (assuming the mod to the 166 to get a fine espresso grind works). I'm even contemplating picking up an iRoast or something along those lines to roast my own (granted, this is all throughout the next 6 months or so.) That's me in a nutshell. Now, the stupidest post ever... I'm trying to find some nice Bodum glasses to compliment my espresso. I'll drink a 2 shotter, a capp, a latte, and the wife drinks iced lattes. What are good sizes (i know stupid question). I'm thinking a set of 3oz and a set of 9oz. Do I need a set of bigger cups (13 oz?). I just like things to be nice and uniform when it comes to my hobbies (and addictions). Maybe is shows some level of odd passion for coffee, that I have to ask a message board for proper cup sizes to purchase... ![]() |

This is what I use, the Bodum insulated cups little more than halfway down. Nice, insulated and just the right size. I managed to drop one from the counter top and of course it broke, but I've dropped the other one about a foot or so a couple times with nothing happening.

The Bodum double wall jobs are pretty neat. I have a couple of curved-side one ouncers. Also, consignment and thrift stores often have miracle finds for that sort of thing. Shot glasses...

Re: Probably the stupidest first post ever... looking for glasses...
I like the smaller style cups for the expresso. A 9oz would be fine for most latte/cappo style drinks. Unless you have a real steamed milk drinker like I do. My wife prefers coffee flavored steamed milk. Thus, she gets a 14oz mug for her beverages.

http://www.ineedcoffee.com/07/hack-starbucks-grinder/ Do you think a 6-cup moka is to much? My thinking was the 6-cup would give me good rich coffee for work, while the 2/4 cup brikka would be my espresso alternative to the nespresso. |

Re: Probably the stupidest first post ever... looking for glasses...
Shoot, I forgot something else I wanted to ask:
Since the Nespresso has no steamer/frother, I need to buy a stand alone. How does this look? Seems to new to find reviews. http://www.bodumusa.com/shop/line.as...H4SBCER6PE2WB7 I was looking at this $50 device called a Froth Au Lait, but it's the size of a blender. That would defeat the whole idea of having a nice, sleak coffee bar setup on my counter! |

I don't favor larger mokapots except for larger families who drink a hell of a lot of moka. I am way partial to conventional 2- or 3-cuppers aluminum pots (3-cup max). The Brikka has a pressure widget on the post; it is easier to use but might not afford the highest level of performance. I have not used a Brikka personally so I can't speak from experience on that. As for the stupidest first post I suggest you are not even close to being in the running. Not even in the galaxy. That honor goes to... oh, never mind who. ![]()

You can find the seconds from Bodum's production of these glasses from BJ's, I believe, at a fraction of the original cost.

BJ's warehouse, like a Sams club or a Cosco. The glasses are $36 for 8 8oz and 8 14 oz if your a member and 15% more more non members.

I'm outta luck then. That is certainly an east coast (think atlantic ocean bordering states only) oriented company.
