U huh. So what IS wrong with that coffee according to the fotos - or do they mean you're spot-on?

As for my next Pic of the Day offering, I just don't know. You've raised the bar pretty high. Here's something since you asked (not my own).

Re: (Coffee) Pic of the Day

I was checking out the site, a really novel idea. I may pick one up because I am always curious if I have 30 lbs. pressure on the money or not. If the grind is off and may press more rather than throw out the ground coffee still in the grinder. I'll have to measure the portafilter to see which size I need. Currently I am using a tamp my dad machined out of brass and stainless on his lathe. It works well, but this tamp is the coolest thing I've seen all week.

I love mine, really do. What machine do you have? I might be able to let you know your portafilter size. . .

The first, really 'gloppy', picture has coffee distribution issues (or so I'm told). It tasted pretty darn good in the cup, but it's not perfect. I've been working with my new machine and portafilter for just a month or so, so I'm really new to this. I thought I knew what I was doing until I went to coffeegeek.com. THEY know what the heck they are doing.

C'mon, I'm only posting the GOOD stuff. You want to see a When Espresso Goes Wrong picture? I'll oblige. . .

I thought it was all crema-perfecta in SuperT land. That last bunch of pix could be the start of a new Modern Marvels series - "Engineering Disasters. When Espresso Goes Wrong!" I'll have nightmares over those pictures. Whew..

Here's a start-the-weekend coffee cheer-up foto to take the edge off (again, not my own). See more at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tonx/sets/48921/

Oh yeah - my local store owner gave me a Bucanero Classico or Catalina(?) Maduro to try - a short one - it had to be one of the best maduros I've ever enjoyed. It did not fit into my regular (skinflint) price range but I might go back for a couple to have in the humi for maduro emergencies. Would have been perfect with a cappuccino or the recently recommended hot chocolate/cigar combo. This calls for a new thread - Maduro and Coffee.

I bid all BOTL/coffeeheads a great weekend. Watch out for Wilma lads - keep your leaves and beans dry - be safe.

You too have a great weekend and let's hope Wilma 'fizzles out'. I'm in N. Florida, so I feel pretty safe, but you never know. . .
