Unhappy Squirrels broke my IRoast

Power was out last night so I could not investigate the thumps in the night but this morning I found the carafe of my Iroast on the deck, shattered. The lid is gone as well. I am bummed. So today I go shopping on the internet, but we will be without good coffee for a week while we wait for delivery.

That stinks, hopefully you have a pot of squirrel stew on the stove.

Was just reading the thread on the Behmor. Not much feedback has been posted so the research goes on. The IRoast is sure easy to use, but small capacity.

Re: Squirrels broke my IRoast

Capacity is my only issue with the FR8, as well. That is the reason I brought this up....IF you go small capacity again, do you find that you really use the profile features of the iRoast? When I purchased, since the iR and FR8 have similar capacity, I made my decision on price since I didn't really think I would truly use the iR features. FR8 can be had for about $75.

just thinking out loud.....

Re: Squirrels broke my IRoast

I'm sorry about the broken carafe. My advice is take all the time required to hunt down the squirrel and send it to the place where dead rats go. Once they get a taste for small coffee roasters they only come back for more, is my advice.

My neighbor is watching his house being slowly eaten by a squirrel but he (the neighbor, not the squirrel) refuses to use my pellet gun with certain-death-points and.... so on and so on. I guarantee if the squirrel had the option to use the pellet gun on my neighbor it wouldn't hesitate. I am a major animal lover - passionate about being good to critters - but rodents is where I have drawn the line. Cheeky little bastiches.

So what's the deal with all your little micro-mini roasters anyhow?

A squirrel isn't strong enough to bust up a good SCCO.

It's time to move on.

Micro-brewers don't make beer four onces at a time.

Hope this is helpful.

Orderly!!!

Crazy squirels... I used to raise a couple fo them that we'd found abandoned by their mother. Dropper fed them and everything... Yeah, they turned wild as hornets and we had to let them go back into the woods because they'd scratch and bite and go crazy! Wicked little things unless you raise them alongside a domesticated animal so they can learn how to act.

My brother was the same way...

My father got crazed with keeping squirrels out of the bird feeders and when all the many methods of squirrel proofing they always found a way. He then started shooting them and hanging their carcasses around the feeders, the birds stopped coming and the squirrels used the dead to get to the feeders.

Re: Squirrels broke my IRoast

Marianne I'd echo Dan's advice.
Stir Crazy from Amazon $34.95
Sunpentown Super Turbo Oven from Newegg $64.99
Assorted widgets from the hardware store and maybe an 11" springform <$20 all told.

The ability to roast batches of around one pound for less than it costs to replace your IRoast II.... Priceless.

HOWTO
