French Press-Reversal

This is a discussion on French Press-Reversal within the Coffee Discussion forums, part of the Coffee Forums category; The concept here is valid; in fact it sounds like what Kayak_Rat is describing an old-fashioned percolator....

I've read all the posts, even the rude ones. Not naming any names here. You know who you are. However, as the short bus person of the decade, I have to ask, what the heck does the above sentence mean?

1. Specifically, the "available head"? Is this a "60's" reference?
2. Does this have any reference to sheep or goats?

OK, I'm confused. I admit it.

Insert clarity (or other comments) here: _____ (Suggestion: Use little words....)

Not an engineer here, but I believe the term head in this instance refers to the water pressure.

Pretty much yeah. In this instance...the water comes in from a side pipe which is below the levels of the filter. The pressure exerted through the pipe is more than that of gravity, so the water is forced upward through the filters. Also the water from the pipes makes a vortex which helps the water rise.

Any help?

2. (Abbr. hd.) The measure of pressure at the lower point expressed in terms of this difference.
3. The pressure exerted by a liquid or gas: a head of steam.
4. The liquid or gas exerting the pressure.

Re: French Press-Reversal

You know, sometimes at work I have a very hard time getting up a head of steam.

KR, you have an idea here, but somehow I just don't see the advantage of it. Moo has allready proven there is no degredation of taste for brew sitting in a French press, so what would be the point of this reverse brewing??
