Re: Whats In Your Mill Today?
Ethiopian Yrgacheffe MAO. Dropped before second crack. Citrus to caramel for a few then to earthy cocoa. Very complex cup of an extremely versatile bean.
A quick note: Many have asked what does MAO stand for? It's Mohamed Abdullahi Ogsadey. He was the first native African coffee exporter who built a coffee empire in his country and throught the world. And he ALWAYS gave back to those in his coffee food chain. He was killed in February last year in an auto accident. He was in his mid 80's. May he rest in peace. And he was right: "A good name is far better than a good deal of money." |

Re: Whats In Your Mill Today?
Kid O - This may just become my go-to blend.
Two Ristretto Doubles in a Latte(more like a "Flat White" - about 3 oz. Espresso and 6 oz. Milk & Foam) I've found the Ristretto Extraction produces my favorite texture to the coffee, and this Kid O is indeed 'nutty' and very smooth on the palate - I also like just a hair more Milk than a Cappuccino, but am starting to make Espresso good enough to let it take more of the lead from the Milk. Soon my syrups should arrive(Torani - straight off the boat from Seattle) so I won't need as much milk to hide my ills - I'll use Sugar instead! ![]()

![]() I had an Uncle Beanz Negrita cappa to start and just had a double shot of D.S. Kennedy's espresso blend (at D.S. Kennedy - a local roaster in Jacksonville). Picked up some fresh roasted single origin coffee to pull as espresso - Harrar and Santos. |

Re: Whats In Your Mill Today?
Unclebeanz Taina graces our cups this morning. Simply sparkling cup. Folks, have an awesome Saturday, wherever you are.
The courage to be you You are unique, with your own special beauty and value to give to life. What a terrible shame it would be if you were to let that beauty be hidden behind your fears. When you worry that you're not good enough, you allow others to control you, and their domination will soon make you miserable. Or when you fool yourself into thinking you're superior to everyone else, you deny yourself the exquisite joy of offering your own special gifts to life. It takes courage and faith, effort and initiative to be who you are. And it is so very much worth the effort. Though no one else can do it for you, you have what it takes to be magnificently successful at being you. From the deepest secrets of your soul to the face you put forward to the world, every bit of you is meant to be the authentic and original person you are. Listen to that quiet, persistent voice inside that you know is always right. This is your opportunity to fulfill and express the real and lasting joy of being you. Let the beautiful person inside of you come more fully to life as each moment passes. Let yourself, and the world around you, know the joy and fulfillment that is meant just for you to express. |

Re: Whats In Your Mill Today?
Brazil Santos cappa. Pretty good, nutty. I think a blend with this and some Harrar might pull a great shot. Gonna try a 50-50 mix and see what it produces.

Re: Whats In Your Mill Today?
Colombian Cup of Excellence 1st place winner from "La Isla" farm. Caramel, slight honey, some floral notes. Ms. Yasso, the grower of this coffee, is the first female farmer to take first place in this coffee competition. Easy to see why. Enjoy your Sunday, folks.
Indulgence One of the best ways to become disciplined is to indulge yourself on a regular basis. At first that might sound contradictory. When you think about it, though, indulgence can be a key tool in developing and maintaining discipline. Discipline always requires denial. For example, if you want to discipline yourself to lose weight, you must deny yourself fattening foods. When you discipline yourself to work hard toward achieving goals you've set for yourself, you deny yourself some of the "fun" activities of life. We're only human, though, and we need incentives along the way. One powerful incentive is to keep yourself focused on your goals, on the objects of your discipline. Another good way is to schedule a regular indulgence. It's better if your indulgence is something you do regularly -- every day, every week. It is important to be able to look forward to it. And when the time comes, enjoy it. Savor every minute without the least bit of guilt. Take time for yourself and reward yourself for your hard work and discipline. And remember that you'll get the opportunity again and there's no need to "binge." (I use "binge" here in a generic sense, not just as it applies to food.) One powerful way to take this concept to a higher level is to develop indulgences that actually enhance your discipline. A good example of this is physical exercise. If you can find an exercise that it also a true indulgence, then you can discipline and indulge at the same time. That is a powerful combination. Try a little indulgence -- you deserve it and it will help to keep you on track. |

Re: Whats In Your Mill Today?
Some Santos'es are better than others. Many of the Central Americans are quite good while others, rooted and growing in colder climates, are quite problematic.

Re: Whats In Your Mill Today?
So far another Santos cappa, it is a great single origin espresso and it is really growing on me.
Then pulled a double and had my temp much closer than yesterday. Need to let the machine rebound for another second or two and it should be dead on. |
