hehe funny, I've also tried almost the same - using mandheling or yirgacheffe instead of the sulawesi - always ending up using sulawesi again .. love the chocolatey taste of the Guat (a Huehuetenango if I remember correctly ..) and the Brazil together! Brazil as a base is a bit bland in my opinion ..

good idea with the mexican I think - the one I've got makes a great cup of filter coffee ..

I've been on a french press bender lately so I've not run espresso blends lately but I worked on a blend I favored for a few years.

I concur with your observation on Brazil; the classic roasts that rely heavily on Brazil as the base are nice but, for me too, lack oomph. For the commercial guy I understand it's easy to get a reliable range of Brazilian beans for a steady signature. Still, it's nice when you can make your own signature, even if it has to wander (or be reinvented) from season to season.

Hey folks, new guy here. Been roasting for 3-4 years now. Currently grinding some Sumatra Sidikilang from Sweet Maria's. Nice to discover coffee and cigar lovers in one spot.

I don't roast, don't ask me.....

8 O'Clock coffee
same as every day.
Anybody who would like to sell some tasty beans just let me know.
I always enjoy a good cup of coffee.

Unclebeanz, one of the best specialty roasters in the country, is located in Perth Amboy. Owner is also a cigar lover and contributor here.

Further afield consider Killer Beans, also a contributor here.

These guys roast good stuff right and ship quickly (before the stuff goes flat). If you are serious about great coffee in your cup you should get you a french press to brew it for max benefit. A conventional drip cofeemaker is almost sure to have brew water temperatures way outside the zone you need to keep coffee from tasting bitter. Water temp is key to get the best from the bean; with a press you control that simple but crucial variable.

Re: Whats In Your Mill Today?

Just finished roasting for some upcoming events...so Mrs. Right and I are enjoying a cup of Colombian Euro Prep Pereira Risaralda. Brewed in a Capresso MT 500, served in a UB mug. Very smooth, very creamy, great balance. Perfect for a crisp fall nite. Lights, camera, action!

2009 El Salvador Santa Rita Natural. Soft, creamy, buttery, great fruit component, excellent nose. Roasted yesterday, less than 12 hours ago. Outstanding. Here our 92 point score on Coffee Review.
