SC/CO Build

Pete and I are building my sc/co this weekend, and by that I mean he is building and I am watching haha. The mad scientist hit a little snag but is slowly and meticulously working that out and we, or he, should be done not too long from now.

Bastages prank calling from Texas! Pete is MacGyver in disguise. Props to Pete! Jim, you are gonna love that device. I've got a feeling mom will be getting plenty of decaf.

I think Pete bargain shopped and got everything for about $45 (btw, I gotta pay you for it Pete)

The first roast went well.... seemed to work fine and I'm looking forward to getting started myself.

Percolating in the skull with the parts that Jim did not take with him.

Re: SC/CO Build

There is some good from putting agitation-geegaws on the stirring rod. SOP has included pieces of the Radio shack barrier strip (Euro-Style) which slide over and screw-set neatly on the stirring rod. They make a difference - half of one, pic, extreme right.

They work better than everything else I tried. Install them once and forget about them.

Rip the plastic insulation off the new strip and extract the metal slugs, each of which has two set screws. Slide a few over the stirring rod, position where desired, and snug up the set screws to lock them in place.

I tried them, and didn't notice much difference in the consistency of the roast, my arms are fairly close to the SC surface though. I had beans getting stuck under and next to the barrier strips.

D'oh! After the photo was taken I wrapped the slugs on mine with heavy-duty foil. It fills the space between the setscrews and prevents anything from getting tapped between or beneath.
