Hey! Not liking Starbux coffee isn't hard to understand and it isn't (usually) snobbery, either. They work with a very predictable forumula. Their signature dark or espresso roasts are specifically designed their market, for coffees that are heavily doped with sugar, syrup and milk. The dark-cum-burnt roast style makes a taste that cuts thru the additives thier customers want. This is a good thing for their clientele. It's not (usually) a good thing for folks (like me) who lean to espresso-based coffee without the ice, sugar, syrup, milk or soy.

S'not snobbery to dislike what tastes awful to you. Not liking Acid Cigars isn't snobbery anymore than liking them denotes good breeding.

there is nothing wrong with not liking what you dont like. there just seems to be a tone that "oh its startbucks so it automatically sucks". Ya I cant say im a fan of most of their stuff but not everything they make is shitty. Do I prefer my own roast coffees sure, do I think starbucks is the worst coffee in the world, no.

They're closing nothing in Georgia and there's already a Starbucks on Every Corner. Starbucks will never really go away

I agree with you somewhat.

But I don't have much sympathy for Starbucks. When there's a starbucks across the street from another, and one on every corner for the next 5 blocks - they were dilluting themselves. Their overpriced coffee was going to wear out the people eventually.

This brings to mind one of my favorite quotes:

"...and if you walk to the end of the block, there sits a Starbucks. And directly across the street -- in the exact same building as that Starbucks -- there is... another Starbucks. There is a Starbucks across the street from a Starbucks! And ladies and gentlemen, THAT is the end of the universe." - Lewis Black

They were deluding themselves - or were they dilluting themselves? Maybe it was a case of self-dillution.

Re: U.S. Starbucks Stores that May be Closing

It's all gasoline prices. The business model was not flawed. They just did not anticipate a 400%+ increase in fuel costs over the last decade.

Coffee beans are not typically grown in the US. You have to get them here somehow.

Starbucks is a luxury good - in a declining economy, people cut down on luxury goods first.

Why the hell do you think WalMart sells all Chinese stuff - it is not because Americans demand top quality goods at their value-mart.

I can go to any Starbucks in America at 6am and get a decent Americano and a scone for under $5, from a cheerful person.

McD's - vacant stare
Dunkin Donuts - same personnel as AOL phone help

I remember the pre-starbucks, pre-MS days - computers didn't work and coffee sucked.

the one a mile from my house is closing...
No loss, never went there anyway. I'm a Caribou guy when going out for java. Or the local roaster, Dunn Bros.
