Thank you.
Never used a Moka Pot. Never knew how. Never have the time to use one now but after going thru the steps....maybe I WILL invest in one for a nice cup on the weekends.

You need one - a one- or two cupper.

And a pipe, tobak and tamper. You need the pipe too. C'mon.

You should really go to Vincent Flander's http://webpagesthatsuck.com/ and read up on Mystery Meat Navigation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mystery_Meat_Navigation) at Vincent's site and wikipedia.

I know you have the time. It's not like you're slaving away at a job or have a schedule to meet.

Re: Best moka - mokapot web site in the world

Nice site, thanks for the link.

It says not to tamp the coffee in the basket, but I always do; it results in a richer brew, necessary for Cuban coffee, but if you're going for espresso I guess it's fine not to.

The part about beating the sugar with the first few drops that exit the spout is gospel for good Cuban coffee, and the explanation given is letter-perfect.

What if all I have is an electric stove top. Is this going to significantly change the use (or outcome) of a moka pot? Just wondering

No problem with electric. I like to cut the heat right when the first bit starts to spurt, with electric you may want to pull the pot off the heat while the burner cools.

Yes, very nice Moo-Man. Thanks for supporting the arts.

I must say that I load the filter before placing it in the pot. I also tap/rotate (many times) the coffee filled filter with the metal spoon, causing it to settle and then gently prepare the top, removing the excess. Everyone has their personal own Juju for coffee goodness.

Sounds like my juju, tootoo. We gotta adjust, supporting the arts notwithstanding. The "fill it before you stick it in the pot" thing is a huge improvement.

Nope - just adjust temp carefully and, if too hot, lift the pot off the burner for a moment or two to achieve the perfect 45-second brew. PROOF: http://youtube.com/watch?v=o-ISSFtxI6U

Thumbs up Re: Best moka - mokapot web site in the world

If you're in the Bronx, this place has awesome beans and mokapot's. They do mailorder too.

Some of the best italian products on this street outside of Italy.
