Re: brewing style help

I can't seem to find the thread I was looking for but from what I remember brew up some dark roast in a french press and use condensed milk and a lot of sugar, maybe you add the sugar to the grounds before brewing. Hopefully somebody that really knows will chime in.

D'oh! Rob - was this the one you were thinking about?

WTF? It's all coffee.... Cuban coffee is great as mokapot/black/sugar; cafe con leche, same plus 50% hot milk.

(See too my famous "Have a Drink on Me!" moka video. Brew it like this, add a teaspoon (at least) of sugar and you're there. Freshroast anything is a must; Bustelo or Pilon works fine in a pinch.)

Yup, came up in the search but never clicked on it, I seem to be slapping myself a lot today.

Slacker.

This woman (I call her Conchita) knows what she's doing even if she isn't a crema monster like I am. Either way she sounds way more authentic than I do. I love her video as much as she must love Chelita. Mucho gusto!

I like to Learn something new everyday, paper towel under the pot to catch the grinds. I liked the way she kept moving the cup away from the gent as he was trying to grab it from her .

I gave up on having the filter in the pot when adding ground coffee; I remove the filter from the pot, fill it with coffee (and then the pot with water), tamp, and reset the filter in the pot. No grind in the threads.

Brilliant! Why didn't I ever think of that?

I also fill the basket outside the pot but I still get grinds everywhere, especially my first pot in the morning.

You need to have a cup of coffee to steady your hands before you make your coffee in the morning. Hope this is helpful.

So, jpang'29 - have you made you some Cafe Cubano yet? And espresso machine does the trick but a mokapot and sugar is the classic way in. For pure ease and excellent brew you might consider using an AeroPress. They are inexpensive ($30), require zero skill and make something very close to espresso. Shoot! I wish I'd tried mine with some Bustelo before sending it out on the AeroPass...
