I have been on the road a lot and hate the coffee machines in the villas my company has. the glass caraffe makes me nervous though.

I figure this along with my cheap burr grinder will set up nice on the counter?

Re: Is this a good pour over?

Bodum makes good stuff. That looks like a very nice pour over, I was actually looking at one awhile back. Only drawback I can see is keeping the coffee warm after the first cup...

Re: Is this a good pour over?

So, how good is the coffee since I use the standard drip maker? What I need is another hobby to make my life even more anal when it comes to drinking coffe ( which I love, esp. different blends. Can't imagine other ways to make my coffee even more delicious ) I'm thinking that this is going to be another hobby,,,,sheesh Cigars Wine Coffe Motorcycles Travel Food

That pot is a bitch to clean, you'll need to buy a brush in order to get to the gunk inside.

Also, be VERY careful when washing it as the glass is quite thin and will break with ease...I've busted a few myself.

We don't see any Bodum grear at the store...too much breakage.

I figured it won't be too long before I break it Jerry. When the inevitable happens, I'll use it like my cheap Melita pour over and just place it over a mug like the caveman I am.

Re: Is this a good pour over?

It looks great! But for traveling I would just stick to a Melita and a travel mug or something of the likes.
Saves so much in cleaning as well.

Those travel presses look great btw! But don't you get a mouth full of gunk?

It isn't clear to me if you mean to travel with this device. I can't see this being a great travel product. If it's for use at home, you'll love it until, maybe, you drop it or smack it with a blunt instrument. I've had excellent luck with Bodum borosilicate products (french press, vacuum shot glasses and a teapot); never broke anything of theirs even after a few drops into the sink or on the floor. Someone here recently claimed they had a Bodum vacuum tumbler implode in his hand. Use reasonable care? You'll want to find a suitable bottle brush if you don't have one. Bodum products like this park well on a cork slab; some come with a cork "coaster" and some don't. Cork is good.

The miracle of the 4-ounce cup of coffee survives:

Capacity: 34 oz / 1 L
Makes 8 cups (US 4 Cups)

Keep us posted on your results.

Re: Is this a good pour over?

by travelling with it, I would wrap it and put it in my carry on and set it up instead of the drip machine.

In the past, I have brought my cheap burr grinder and steam machine and had ok results.

I'll probably skip the glass part and bring the filter along.

Realistically, it will probably make 1 or 2 cups, the size I like.
