technivorm question
I am in need of a new coffee maker and considered an automatic espresso maker but just can't bring myself to shell out the $$$. My next thought is a technivorm and a good burr grinder which will still come out costing less. Then when I want an espresso I can use my cheapo espresso maker with good beans ground right.
There are several models of technivorm and, other than 1 liter vs 1.25 liter and thermal vs hotplate, I can't tell the difference. Can anyone help? Thanks |

As far as I know, there are no technical differences as far as brewing is concerned in the techivorms, just bells and whistles , which are scarce on those machines anyway. Some have a different type of shower head for spraying the water on the grounds, etc. Go to Sweet Marias website and they break it down I think. The Techivorm is an outstanding choice as a coffee maker, pretty much the Holy Grail of drip machines, well worth the coinage they cost. |

Re: technivorm question
When I bought my Technivorm I had the same question as you. What finally made up my mind is how much coffee do I drink when I want some. For the most part I have one "cup" in the AM, on weekends, one in the AM and maybe one in the early PM. If I want more I'll make more, it'll always be fresh that way. When I have company I'll make enough for all to have a cup and if more is needed I make it, no biggie.
On a personal note, my "cup" consists of filling the Technivorm almost to the 4 cup line (I think that about 16 ozs). The filter holder has 3 manual adjustments on the side, 2 adjustments will change to amount of flow of the drip (whether your makng a full or partial pot) the third will stop the flow of coffee (in case you want to poor a cup before the pot is finished brewing). Now it just so happens the filterholder will hold the 4 cups, so when I brew my coffee I'll close (stop) the flow, let the coffee steep for a couple minutes, getting all the flavors out of the beans before allowing it to drip into the pot. What a wonderful difference. I hope this has helped and not confused you more. Oh, by the way, I bought the KB-741 model. Whichever model you choose you've made a great decision, IMHO. |
