Etheopia Sun Dried Sidamo is (almost) here!

Hey, I know starbucks isn't really the best of the best when it comes to coffee, but they do offer one coffee very occasionally that I am in love with - Ethiopia Sun Dried Sidamo (in years past it has been called "shirkina"). I can't say enough about this coffee. Natural process and just bursting with black cherry and currant flavor.

Anybody else here with some sun-dried love?

I roast mostly naturally processed beans for myself. Ethiopia beans take a dark roast well, so I guess it should still taste good from charbucks.

It has been available since at least mid Summer. The farm it has been available from was a top winner in the Ethiopian Auction earlier this year.
Natural Sidamo "Koratie" is one of the trade names.

It is a spectacular coffee. When you find it at Starbucks, enjoy it.

Just picked up a 1/2lb. this week. It definitely reminds me of Ethiopian Harrar. I do enjoy this roast from Starbucks, the great and evil satan of coffee!

I remember when they were just a small time batch roaster in Seattle, man are those days gone!

Although not the bean you are talking about I have to chime in on my recent Ethiopian experience.

I just completed a roasting 390 grams of Ethiopian Aricha Nine to a City+ (the pleasant fragrance lingers). Net result was 330 grams. Fills quart mason jar. I'll let it sit for a couple of days. In the mean time I am enjoying the remaining test roast I did a few days back.

I got a great deal on 5 pounds (green) from my Uncle Beanz (Norman), although these beans where released a year ago the passing of time only took it from a 90+ rating down to an tasty 89.

Full of berry and mild choco delight, smoooooth.

What do you use for roasting your beans? I have given alot of thought about roasting my own. There is really nothing quite as tasty as fresh roasted coffee IMO.

It seems that if it is over about 2 weeks old pretty much all coffee homogenizes into some version of Folgers.

I was given an iRoaster2 by my brother a few months ago.

…But as you can see from a quick visit to this website as well as a search through Club Stogie there are many options, from the involved to the simple…inexpensive to high dollar.

Most roaster would agree with your statement concerning freshness.
