Saeco Aroma = highly disappointing

My new saeco aroma espresso machine arrived today after much anticipation. There must be something wrong...even with NO coffee in the portafilter the water only drips out; with coffee in there nothing at all comes out. I primed the water circuit and tried coarser grinds but nada.

Update: now water fails to come out even with an empty portafilter.

Guess espresso is only for people who can afford expensive machines.

I've got the same machine, works great. Bought as a refurb from ebay. Sounds like you got a lemon.

Yes. Costco has a great return policy so I just took it back. I think I may go with a little better model. I don't think I like the pressurized portafilter thing, even if the machine does work.

I think what happened was, after reading all these espresso websites I was expecting heaven to open and angels descend when I turned the machine on and when it didn't even work it was a bit of a let down.

Can't speak for this machine but many such devices need a pump priming.

Great opportunity, though, to return it and apply the money to a better grinder. Heh heh.

Not necessarily. many have gone into debt and forgotten their children's college educations.....

others prefer watching naked portafilters to naked women....
