I put the beans in the BBQ and then go inside for 15-minutes. Doesn't everyone?

LOL

I put my Poppery in a large cardboard box for cold day roasting. Works pretty well. I try to make more than I can use oin a week to account for the winter weather.

Can we just have some global warming please?

I usually just make sure I'm wearing socks. Then I have to don slippers to keep the socks from wearing thru.

Yeah, it turns into a whole thing.....

Yeah. I feel your pain. The SoCal roasting conditions are a real horror. Last year some guy out there got a splinter in his foot when he walked out on the deck w/o slippers. I mean... dag.

S'posed 2b 17* here in NC tonight. I'll wait it out - can't last. Got some nice Zabars Christmas coffee vac-packed in the cupboard to get me thru the cold snap. I think it'll unsnap in two days, maybe.

I have to go out to the RV.. Fire up two space heaters, and the electric seat warmer. All that aside from bundling up like an Eskimo, o' course

Re: Roasting in the Cold?

I roast indoors under the range top hood. Super duper exhaust fan, restaurant style. I elevate my iRoaster2 using phone books so that it is right below the fan. Every once in a while I need to take down the exhaust system filters and run them thru the dishwasher. When the weather warms back up I will probably take it back outside on the deck.

Re: Roasting in the Cold?

Just came in from roasting a batch of Kenya AA. It was pretty rough. 60 degrees in the garage. Had to go inside for a sweater.

Re: Roasting in the Cold?

I roast indoors with my Behmor 1600 & FR8. I do not drink enough for the BBQ rig.

Re: Roasting in the Cold?

I've started putting a big box fan in the window and roasting inside. I usually smoke a cigar at the same time so you don't really notice the smoke from the popper.

Re: Roasting in the Cold?

Due to recent, unfortunate, circumstances my roaster is petrified. With a high of 50* projected for today things may soon improve.

Our temps are starting to climb a bit, so maybe I'll be able to roast some this weekend.

Ugh I CANNOT wait for Spring!
