Well, my friends,

I'm not much of a coffee guy currently. Looking to try and take it up, but I don't know if a Foldgers is a good place to do that. (I figure it might be like the Swisher Sweets of the cigar world) Anyhow. Anyone have any recommendations for me?

I think you hit the nail on the head there. Yes stay away from foldgers.

There are a ton of places to buy coffee. I would suggest start of with something like "Kenya" Usually a light roast and you can use it as a baseline to see what you like. If you do not have a grinder be sure to ask for it ground.

should have plenty of local roasters in your area to pick up some beans.

If you don't have one already.... I would suggest a grinder and french press.

Well, about the Cuban Coffee, unless it's as easy to get away with when coming back from Spain, I don't know how I'd pick it up. And I don't want that kind of risk with something I'm not positive I'll enjoy.

Go to starbucks - order a cafe americano. Drink it black with no sugar.

If you like it, come back here and read about moka pots and french presses.

Most here will deride the corporate coffee maker. However, if you have no base line, starbucks makes consistent half decent coffee and coffee drinks.

Once you know enough about coffee to know why you don't like starbucks you will know what you do like.

Bear in mind, once you get started you will need at least $75 in gear.
