need some coffee advice/reccomendations

Time to pick up some more ground coffee from shoprite or something. Just got through a bag of New England Columbian which was pretty good but I've heard some good things about 8 O'clock / Green Mountian / Yuban. Whats a good choice for a commercial bag?

8:00 O'Clock columbian is good. But do yourself a favor and get a grinder. It makes for a much nicer cup if your beans are fresh ground.

Have you considered roasting your own coffee? You can control the beans and the roasting levels. It doesn't take a lot of money to get started. My first roaster was a hot air popcorn popper. Once you try it, you won't go back. Yeah, the coffee is that good!

Re: need some coffee advice/reccomendations

thanks guys, I picked up some 8 oclock columbian ground because i didn't see the whole bean. Do the grounds not stay as fresh or something? I have a small grinder but never felt like having to grind it up each time I want a cup. And if I grind it all at one time and throw it in a container hows that different than just buying it ground. ha, sorry not into coffee as much as cigars.

Seal them up airtight, as once ground, degradation begins. Time is less kind the smaller the component is. Once you work yourself into brewing good coffee then you can follow the path to good beans and grind them yourself and then brew them as well, according to your tastes. As you advance you can begin roasting, if you want, as this gives the control to you, not some robot factory.

It takes each individual to determine their ascent and how the path meanders about. I stayed at buying freshly roasted beans for many years before roasting myself. Now and I can't understand why I waited so long, but I did, so no use in crying. Roasting allows you to tweak the roast and blend .... even before grinding and brewing. More variables, more options, more joys left to be discovered!

Just never forget that what you enjoy most is what matters! It is all good, in the end!

Re: need some coffee advice/reccomendations

I'm an Eight O'clocker myself. I grind the beans in store. I do have a small grinder, but there's not much control, don't know if that's an issue or not. That grinder has since been put to spice use.
