I'm not exactly a coffee connoisseur, but I do enjoy a good cup of coffee. Some of my friends like to drink coffee from Coffee Bean Direct. I was wondering what you gents think of the stuff from them and how you would compare it with other high quality coffee. Thanks.

We coffee-pool at work, so we order from CBD all the time. They have some pretty good stuff. Only a couple of caveats - their 1lb prices are quite high, so you have to order in 5lb increments to get ~$5-6 a lb. They tend to roast a bit on the light side, so I only order stuff labeled as dark roast. We love the dark Guatemala Antigua or Huehuetenango.

When it comes to freshness, I think they equal or beat other fine coffee sources. They ship your batch based on when they roast. Where the finer roasters beat CBD is blending. The CBD blends aren't all that great so I stick to single origins.
