My first roasts

Well last week I ordered these coffees:

Colombia Cauca Classico - 1/2 lb sample
Java - government estate - 1/2 lb sample
Sumatra Special Mandehling - 1/2 lb Sample
Nicaragua Organic - Segovia - FT - 1/2 lb sample

and have had a chance to roast a pot of colombian and just did a pot or two's worth of java tonight. Turned out pretty good. I think my popcorn popper may run hotter than I expected because the colombian was done around 3 min and the 1st and 2nd crack were almost right together. Almost as soon as I heard some loud cracks I started to hear the rice crispy cracks. They were oily and dark to so I think I ran right up on a french roast. Then today when I did the Java I got scared and pulled a teany bit out early for a cinnamin roast but my next batch came out at full city I think. That or city++. Anyway, it's a lot easier than I had expected. Sorta surprised me. Thanks (I think) for pushing me down yet another slope guys.

Have fun with it; the more you fool with roasting the easier it gets - and the coffee improves, too!

Except for the Cerrado Brazilian/Harrar blend I've been messing with. If there's merit here I can't find it.
