although i DID throw away the crappiest maker i've ever had ($30 mr. coffee that spilled every time you tried to pour) and on the advice of Mr. Maduroo, got a Gevalia maker.you were right about the gevalia coffee, too...i've had 2 day old reheated coffee that tasted better.... the funny thing is...i was so used to the bitter-ass coffee from the mr. coffee that the same 8'Oclock beans tasted almost too smooth and bland from the new Gevalia maker... ![]() |

This thread should be very helpful for people who are no longer taking ADD medication and are considering how to stay focused yet improve the taste of their coffee. It includes confidential reflections from the president of a major coffee roasting firm, discussion of a new tongue-ing avatar, discussion on southeastern agricultural trends and culture, accusations of members being briberd to foster personal attacks, a look at the rubbery backside of S&M, a lightening snipe from the snipe-master himself and, finally, an obscene FU kiss-off from the only guy who was even close to being complimented. This is the greatest forum on earth. God help me, I love it.

Looks like the eye remnant will track right up I-95; I live a mile from I-95 - oh well, it's a piddling storm. Still, I filled the bathtub and jerri cans with water (we have a well), got obligatory milk and bread, refreshed the row of beans, peas and canned tomatoes (there, you a$$hole) in the cupboard, oil in the lamps, Coleman stove prepped, Pocket Micro-Torch butaned up, cigars prayed for, batteries in the radio, flag lowered, gutters unclogged and boat is as secured as the boat is gonna get (at Bath Harbor, this morning).I have had to change clothes three times today. I need a drink but I'm smoking a Tres Mystique instead.

Re: Why Storebought Coffee Tastes Like It Tastes
Now I am all paranoid about my coffee. Though amused by the general tone of this thread. You guys crack me up. But seriously Mr. Moo, I usually buy Pete's coffee (whole bean) from the good ole' supermarket. I use a cusinart grind and brew (http://www.cuisinart.com/catalog/product.php?item_id=32) to happily brew my coffe. Now I am questioning my equipment and my beans. Help? Is my equipment sub-par and where can I find fresh beans without resorting to roasting my own as my roomates and girlfriend already have to deal with my O.C.D. when it comes to the storage of my cigars and my coffee and my wine and my beer and my...... The list goes on.
Thanks in advance for your advice and assistance in this matter, Mike B (the newly educated paranoid coffee drinker/cigar smoker)

To insure you remmain happy with what you're drinking, just avoid the opportunity for producing fresh home roast and do not get a burr grinder, mokapot, pourover filter or french press. Coffeewise, it sounds loike you're sitting pretty. I mean, what could be so much better on the other side of the fence?
