Line on a 10 pound comercial Roaster

My uncle reclaims Commercial Equipment and recently Got a 10 pound Commercial roaster from a coffee shop. He wants 300 for it. Is this a good deal??

Sounds like a cheap way to heat a house in TC 10 months of the year.

Re: Line on a 10 pound comercial Roaster

What type of roaster?
How old is it?
Do you know how to service it?
Where can you get parts?
What's the size of the gas line you'll need?
Does it have an afterburner?
How will you vent it?
Do you really need a toy that will allow you to roast 240+ lbs in an 8 hour shift?

It's a very pricy way to heat you house, but it'll sure make everything smell good!

going along with both what Nova and Mr. Jerry said:

If it's in good functioning order I would buy it, if only to perhaps ebay it down the road.

I'd assume it's natural gas fired, so you would have to have a way to hook it up and vent it.

You probably don't go through more than a couple of lbs of coffee a week personally. I don't know how well this large commercial roasters work on small batches. In the alternative, roast 10lbs and sell to friends family and coworkers!!

Ebay is a good idea...maybe even CoffeeGeek.
10 lb roaster worls great for small batches, in fact, I use a Probat L5 for all my small batch roasting.

Re: Line on a 10 pound comercial Roaster

Gas Hookup not a big deal, vent-easy, Parts, easy, he has a few extras, It is in perfect condition, and its from about the 60s but was rebuilt in the late 90s by the coffee shop. Cant remeber the brand forgot to write it down but I have heard of it. The shop used to do 2 pound batches in it for some of thier favorite clients, so thinking small batches wont hurt, they upgraded to a 30 pounder. Forgot to ask if it has an afterburner.
