New 1LB Home Roaster $399

I've been spending too much time on the Geek site lately, but this roaster looks very very interesting to me. Apparently it's been vetted by some top notch guys who give it a thumbs up. Supposed to be out next month for somewhere between 3-400:

Sounds too good to be true. That's doing a lot to roast (and cool) a pound with 1500W...

At least someone is trying. Who's signing up to try this thingie? I nominate:

1. Piperman! He wants to roast coffee.

2. Legendary! Where HAS that lady gone? She deserves broader coffee horizons.

3. ResIpsa! If it's a fire hazard he can initiate the class action suit quickly and cost effectively.

I agree it sounds too good to be true. But I don't know I agree that 1500 W can't handle a pound. After all, that's more wattage than a SCTO setup puts out, presuming the heating element on the SC is disabled as most do, and you do a pound with that don't you?

I'm gonna keep an eye on this one. At that price point

I've been trying to kill my Freshroast+8 so I can justify buying a new (and larger/better) roaster. Keep us posted - looks like this could be the one. Thanks!

I know of 1 other working on a 1 pounder. The potential in a home market is too larger to ignore. Hallelujah.

I have not disconnected the heating element in my SCCO; together, with the convection thingie a pound needs about 10-11 minutes.

As per No'surf, I'd totally rate "halleluja" on a smokeless 12-minute indoor 1-lb roaster that can cool what it cooks.

Re: New 1LB Home Roaster $399

ya, that post has really peaked my interest.
I mean, the IROAR2 is a very nice machine, but had i known about the SCCO roasters, i probably would have whipped up one of those instead.

my biggest issues with the IROAR are, batch size (140g) and the frigging NOISE.
Otherwise i like it alot. the programming function makes it easy for me to get consistant roasts, and it doesnt smoke up my kitchen at all. i just wish i could hear 2nd crack.

i imagine the IROAST will fail eventually, when that day comes, hopefully there will be new options in the under $500 homeroaster market. the SCCO and BBQ options are high on the list, i just dont know what i will do in the winter as i dont have a garage
