Bean Cooling Methods......

The other night Laura had been out shopping and bought a salad spinner.

It sat there on the counter looking at me, and I it, until Laura said "why are you looking at my salad spinner like that?"

Naturally, I innocently replied, "Like what?", to which she let me know in no uncertain terms that she could see the little wheels turning inside of my cranium and I was not to touch her salad spinner for anything other than its intended use.

Of course the light bulb has gone on inside my brain. For anyone who has ever seen or used one of these, it seems to me that it is a perfect method for cooling coffee beans if you're manually cooling them after using a sc/to setup (thinking of setting one up) or a barbeque grill drum setup. Place the beans inside, push the handle and let the beans spin away. I think it would be even more efficient than the traditional method of setting a fan up beneath collenders. Any thoughts??

Hot Beans....... plastic basket.... (at least on mine).... Bad JUJU.

I cooled mine this morning by taking the air compressor and blasting some air through the beans and sieve, took about 20 seconds to room temp.

Hmmm...That seems like a good experiment. Do you think spinning it for a few minutes would sufficienly do the trick? I don't think the airflow is enough to take the heat away. How about a mesh laudndry bag hanging in a wind tunnel?

Re: Bean Cooling Methods......

I say Vic wears a mesh jumpsuit with a place to store the beans and runs really fast through the streets.
