Sling Blade revisited
I've seen this movie probably a dozen times, but it has been years since the last time. I decided to rent it and watch it with the boy. This is STILL a very good movie to me. I can watch it with someone who has never seen it before. The acting really draws you in and the screenwriting is excellent. I watched this movie for year before I realized the late John Ridder was in it. If you haven't seen it yet, you must rent it ASAP! Still on my top 10 of all time.

IMHO this is still Billy Bob Thornton's best role. He deserved the Academy Award for it. The film is very powerful and everything about it from the music, mood, cinematography, etc was wonderful and perfect.

My old roomate and I used to watch this movie non-stop throughout the whole summer last year. While Billy Bob was good Dwight Yokum was awesome in this movie as Doyle Hargrave and I've been searching for months to try and find that song that he and his band play during one of their backyard romps. Great, great movie.

Good call!
Slingblade was adapted by Thornton from his short film and previous screenplay titled Some Folks Call it a Sling Blade. The shorter movie is more intense and more theatrical--by which I mean it comes over more like a theatre piece. Well worth seeking out.
