Lightbulb Wheel Of Time Series

I have been reading this series for six or seven years now, I manage to get through a few books and then i cant find the next one and have to start over again next year when i think about it again. (currently on book 3..for the third or fourth time) I have finally purchased book 7, so i will make it farther than ever this time.

For those of you who like fantasy novels this would be a great series to read. It is the most in depth fantasy series i have ever read. It begins with a village under attack by "trollocks" evil man/animal things that serve "the dark one" and goes through the lives of a few of the people from that village.

There is a source of magic that (some)females can do, but males cannot because they will eventually go mad. Males weilding the "one power" were what caused the breaking of the world the first time.

It is a story that goes through the "dark one" breaking out of the prison he was put in, and these peoples fight to keep the world alive, with one man (who can weild the power) fighting to keep the dark one and the "forsaken" at bay all the while trying not to go mad.

All throughout the books I have read the original party breaks up, and half the book could be written about one part of the party or the other or one individual and thier battles to save the world. It is very in depth.

I dont want to go into too much detail with it and mess it up for anyone who has not read it, but I want to suggest it to anyone who enjoys fantasy and hates for the story to end.

I know I have not done a real good job of this review, but i wanted to suggest this book in case anyone out here is searching for a good series to read.

If anyone else has read this, post on here and help me out with it.

I forgot to mention the name of the first book (of ten) is "The Eye Of The World" and the series is by Robert Jordan

This is one series that I think just kept going too long! Terrific books, but everyone that I know who has attempted to read them is just like you! I know that if I went back to them, I would definitely have to start over with the first book. What else are you reading in this genre?

Re: Wheel Of Time Series

I agree they are terrific books. I have read through 3. I have pretty much the same problem except I get side-tracked in other books. The Wheel of Time books are so in-depth, I pretty much have to start over, and these friggin books are huge!

Re: Wheel Of Time Series

I was begining to think i was the only one that read fantasy novels..

I've now made it through book 7. and dont have 8...hopefully i'll get it soon. i dont think i have it in me to start the whole thing over again so soon.
DJ Some of my other favorites fantasy books are the dragonlance ones, i think they have names like "dawn of the winter twilight", (or something to that effect) there is one for each summer winter fall and spring. I thought they were pretty funny, and no where near as in depth as the wheel of time. Just a good easy fun read.

Reading through this series has been my cigar pastime for 2 or 3 weeks now. Much better than watching tv.

I think after this series i'm gonna go to something a little less in depth....Maybe molecular physics..

Love the Dragonlance books! Have you read the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind?

The DragonLance books kick ass! I love them and have read them for years. Tas cracks me up (especially with Flint). I went to a gaming convention last summer and bought The Soulforge (story of Raistlin from birth through the test) from Margaret Weis and had her sign it. It was very cool to meet her.

Very cool! You'll have to let me see that some time.

No problem bro!! It was a very good book. Raistlin is probably my favorite character of the Dragonlance books, so I jumped at the opportunity to purchase the book and get a free autograph.

Re: Wheel Of Time Series

I've only had one book signed by the author, it was called "the Giver" I forget who it was by, but it was a good book. only one person alive in the town knows about all the "bad" stuff in the world, and about some books and what they say, it was really pretty good. Then i let my aunt borrow it..and she dropped it in the bathtub

I have only read the four books that were a set of the dragonlance, let someone borrow them, and have not seen him or them since...i have since learned not to let people borrow books. not sure if tas or rastlin was my favorite, but the old wizard/god fizban was def. in the top three of my favorite people in the series.never could keep up with his hat. He kinda reminded me of the guy in don quiote trying to fight a windmill

a real easy read i was into a while back was...what was it..ummm...zanth was the name of the place, with magic, called our "world" mundainia...not really a series, but a bunch of books about it. I dont remember, maybe it'll come to me in a dream.

I just remembered the authors name, it is Peirs Anthony, who also did some other good works like "on a pale horse" and something about a tangled skein ...and a few others that (surprise surprise) I cant remember the names of.

Fizban was also very cool. I liked the fact that this confused old wizard was actually the "king" of the gods, Paladine! Very good stuff.

Re: Wheel Of Time Series

I never finished the first book, but I remember the trollock attack at the beginning vividly. Man that was written well. Really had my heart pounding.

I read the first three dragonlance novels twice in highschool. I really liked those books, but didn't really care to follow the series any longer. I read up to the fifth book and just lost interest in the whole Raistlin time travel bit.

I was such a dork in highschool. I use to practice Raistlin's coin tricks.
