Secret Window (2004)
I rented this movie for my daughter last week to feed her current obsession with all things Johnny Depp. It was written and directed by David Koepp based on a novel by Stephen King and stars Depp, John Turturro, Maria Bello, and Timothy Hutton. It was originally released in 2004 but I don't remember hearing anything about it at the time.
The story recycles a lot of very familiar Stephen King memes but on the whole I thought it was very effective. Not as good as The Shining (Koepp is no Kubrick) or It, but much better than most of the recent Stephen King movie adaptions, IMO. Might be worth a look. So who's going to see The Mist?

saw Secret Window when it came out and have the same impressions. Had some interesting twists but not the best King movie ever. Not sure if I will make it to the theaters to see The Mist but I'm sure that I will watch it sooner or later.

This movie is great, I enjoyed it but in a way i have seen this genre in other movies so its not really anything new to me.
