Nicholas Cage to quit acting.

In MOONSTRUCK with Cher he reminded me 100% of about half the Italian guys I grew up with in Jersey.

Seemed like he was doing 3 or 4 movies a year recently - probably wanted to get the cash while he could so he can just go whistling off into the sunset.

I've seen a number of Nicolas [note correct spelling] Cage's movies and he's always an agreeable presence but with the notable exception of Leaving Las Vegas I don't think I've ever seen him act.

He's OK, there are a lot worse. Personally I enjoy movies. Maybe it's the ability to leave reality for a moment and enjoy in guys jumping of buildings and other forms of make believe.

Cage was OK by me, nothing special, but enjoyed a bunch of his movies.

I enjoy Nic Cage flicks. His fluffy, lighter-than-air action stuff like Con-Air, The Rock, National Treasure, Face/Off, etc. succeed because he's such a likable, doofy screen presence. And his "serious" work proves he's a good actor, to boot. I personally enjoyed the heck out of Lord of War.

Wipe the brow! I thought I was going to have to be the only person to admit to liking Valley Girl. If it came on cable today I'd watch it. Guarding Tess is another I like.

Oh well, I guess we'll have to go on without him. Until his cash or hot wife runs out. Then he'll be back on the train again. Didn't Liam Niesen and Sir Anthony Hopkins say the same thing a few years ago? See how long they lasted.

I think the "I am stepping down line" is now the favorite to get out of the spot light for a little while. He will be back, there is only two men who left and never came back. He won't be the third.

I'll tell ya what....any guy with an Oscar under his belt must suck as an actor, huh guys?? Dang...the man has had a few sh**ty roles that you may not have liked him in, but that doesn't change the fact that he's a fantastic actor. My most favorite movie with him that's been semi-recent was Matchstick Men....anyone see that one?

Hilary Swank, Julia Roberts, Geoffrey Rush, Roberto Benigni, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Cuba Gooding, Jr are all also Oscar winners in a leading role.


He also won the worst actor award, The Razzie in 2006 for that Wicker Man crap and in 2007 for Ghost Rider / National Treasure: Book of Secrets / Next.

I guess that sometimes you just get lucky.

He's not the best actor by any means. He has done a few good movies and thats about it. I don't think it will be a real big lost to cinema in general.
