Hopefully the Sci-Fi channel will order it.

Bump for this thread for two reasons.

1. I got the DVD series at Christmas and a little over halfway through. This series is really good. If you haven't seen it, it's worth checking out.

2. There was a recent drive by some of the more animated Firefly/Serenity fans to swamp SciFi with requests to have the series re-started. While a little late, I decided to do a quick email to add to the numbers (copy of email below). For those of you who really would like to see it come back, I would ask that you add your vote. If you do a quick search on DVD sales at Amazon, you'll see that it may be able to happen.

Dear Madam or Sir:

From the quick perusing of the Firefly board on Scifi's website, I will assume you have probably gotten at least a few emails concerning Joss Whedon's Firefly series. Please add me to the number of persons who would like to see a revival of this series. Scifi would be the ideal channel to continue the series. The DVD sales on Amazon have been quite impressive, showing there is a large fan base out there already. Pair that with your existing large and dedicated fan base, that I believe would embrace the series, and Scifi has a win-win situation. I realize there are numerous complicating factors that must be taken into account/dealt with, I am simply casting my vote for Scifi to explore the possibility.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
pjg

Re: Serenity

Serenity is currently on HBO On Demand, so it's free to view until 04-27-08.

A couple of people recommended it to me so I picked it out of the list when I was looking for something to watch on Sunday afternoon.

I would say this is a solid 3/5 movie. At just under 2 hours, the plot seemed a bit rushed and it would probably would have worked a lot better as a TV mini-series. In fact, the uniformly pretty cast and the fact that it was shot on video give it the feel of a TV mini-series rather than a feature movie.

The cast are unanimously easy in the eye, especially the delectable Morena Baccarin (Inara), who seemed to have an endless supply of flowy yet cleavage enhancing costumes and whom unrelenting danger could not dissuade from changing into something even more revealing under even the most trying of circumstances.

The dialog is pretty snappy and there's quite a few laughs.

On the down side, there are plot holes to drive a truck through, probably necessary because of the abbreviated running time, much blatant stealing from Star Wars, LOTR, etc, and not all of the humor works very well.

Still and all, not a bad way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon and good enough to pique my interest in the Firefly series.
