Serenity

Just saw this movie although I never got a chance to see "FireFly", the TV show that it is based on. I'm going to have to lookup the reruns of "FireFly" because this movie was quite interesting. It created a universe that took place 500 years into the future after the human race has been chased to another solar system. The characters are likeable and the effects are good but not too outrageous. The show had a "geek" label which may have contributed to it's demise but I found it a good adventure and generally a lot of fun. My daughter (home from law school for a few days) also enjoyed it thoroughly. The true highlight of the movie was the post climactic scene near the end where Adam Baldwin watched a funeral service with a stogie in his mouth. That was the only instance of smoking as opposed to Battlestar Galactica where many of the characters smoke cigars.

Not a bad movie and I was glad to see they made it. I loved the series, even as short lived as it was. Neat concept. Like a western in space.

A little bit of Science Fiction concept but still basically space opera. The horse opera analogy is appropriate.

There's a reasonably priced boxed set of the entire series available, and it's a really good show!!

how much did it cost you, and where did you order from? Cuz that's actually a set I wouldn't mind adding to my collection, along with a copy of Serenity..

Re: Serenity

I saw Serenity this week and thought it was a great movie. Made me interested in watching the Firefly series as well. Just searched my local cable company's listings and found out that they air it every Friday at 8pm. Can't wait to tune in.

I bought the whole series on DVD and it wasn't too bad but evidently there are no plans for any more.

Love the series. Well acted, written and coreographed. Bought Serenity today and plan on watching it tonight.
