The Greatest Wrestling Stars of the '80s

For years now, I have been looking for something like this. I would check bestbuy, search amazon for a disc compilation like this. This weekend I found it at walmart. 3 discs of wresting from the '80s. Granted, I do not watch wrestling anymore, but in the '80s, I was glued to the TV on Saturday and Sunday mornings and lived for Saturday Nights Main Event late night that one Saturday a month. Roddy Piper, the Four Horsemen, Cowboy Bob Orton, Terry Funk - I loved it.

This DVD is great. Each disc has 5 bios about 15-25 minutes long with the added bonus of some all time matches in full length and some other extra features including some full length interviews (including one of my favorites with the Four Horsemen leading up to one of the Starcades). Some of the great matches include the "dog collar match" bw Piper and Valentine, the "war to settle the score" Piper and Hogan, Snuka v Backlund, Orton v Snuka. Just great stuff.

The only downside of this DVD set is that it should be 10 DVDs rather than 3. I enjoyed the bios, but I think this would be better served by having more full length classic matches. Arn Anderson "The Enforcer" is one of my all time favorites. However, I did not need an interview with his grade school friend Bob Moss - I would rather have seen a few more of the great matches.

All in all, this is a step in the right direction. I hope that this turns into a series with a few more volumes because it did leave me wanting more. Randy Savage, Hillbilly Jim, Big John Stud, Andre the Giant - where are you? Hopefully, there will be a sequel. If you enjoyed wrestling in the 80s, check this out. Even with the shortcomings - a great DVD.
