Downfall
Now, don't get the wrong Idea and think i'm a nazi or anything but Hitler intrigues me and so does any movie/book/writing about him, so this should come as no surprise when I want to go see this movie...done in german with subtitles to keep authenticity, it is about the last 12 days of Hitler's life when the russians were bearing in on him.

Re: Downfall
Saw this flick a few weeks ago. I thought it very interesting. Bruno Ganz did a great job conveying the frustrations the Hitler was facing within his own administration.
In a weird way you almost feel bad for him that everyone thinks he's crazy. (he most certainly was crazy though) He went from being loved and respected by his people to being thought a kook. Kind of a depressing movie but a very interesting, especially if you are interested in WWII.

Re: Downfall
I'm a WWII buff and am fascinated by Hitler as well. He was a very interesting character. I had a really good class here at PSU about the rise of the Nazi party. Its just amazing how a few charasmatic and brutal people were able to bring Germany out of the ashes of WWI.
Lets just be thankful he made those aweful strategic decisions the last couple years of the war. |

Perhaps America should actually stop thinking about themselves for once and look deeper into what it is Hitler was thinking.

Re: Downfall
I'm saying that Americans tend to look at the cover of the book and automatically think poorly or greatly of a person instead of reading about them or researching what exactly this person was about...it is utter bullshit how naive this country is.

First off Hitler was mad, crazy and genocidal. I Hate Hitler and the things he done, but he was a genius and did alot for Germany. That doesn't make up for what he did. But consider this. We allready are a nation of Conquerors and genocidal lunatics. Ask the Native americans about that. America did things to the Indians, but we just put them on reservations and forget them. Or the Spanish/mexicans that were slaughtered and run out of our country for the land. Oh and don't forget the African -Americans we treated them like poop, slaves, and killed many. Another fact was the alot of the slave trade was run by Portuguese and the Jewish slave traders. Then you have the Egyptians who made slaves of the Jews. Don't forget Attila the Hun he killed many also. Bosnia, genocide there too. How many did Alexander the Great kill? The Romans did thier share of conquering and killing. Guess the point I am trying to make is many countries were built on the plans or mad men who were conquerors and genocidal lunitics. Oh yeah left out Napoleon and I am sure many others. He who forgets history is doomed to repeat it. We should never forget any of these atrocities. With Respect CBF ![]()
