Grizzly Man

Did anyone see this move on the discovery channel over the weekend? it was also out at the theaters a while back. A short sum of the movie is that this guy (a hippie from malibu) spent 13 summers camping by himself in the alaskian wilderness videotaping his encounters with bears. He ended up getting killed and eaten by a bear. Then his footage was taken and made into a documentary about these bears
The movie was interesting, I just cant put my finger on it, this guy was completly nuts, he hated society and loved his bears, he had serious mental problems. Then I realized that the movie had as much to with human nature and this man as it did the bears he was filming. Im still not sure how I feel about this movie, but it did make me think and I did end up liking it as I looked back at it.

What do you guys think?

Re: Grizzly Man

I seen it too. His girlfriend was killed as well. He came off as a real misguided nut case to me. When the started talking about how he acted like a grizzly and walked like one when around people made me think he spent to much time on his own. I think he pushed the bounds and paid the price.

Was an interesting show.

Re: Grizzly Man

It's like rafting in class IV/VI waters or skiing rocky double diamonds. Theres that adrenaline buzz while you are doing the thing and the want for that buzz when you are not.

Being in close proximity with Grizzly bears has got to be a rush. I can understand the draw of going back and getting closer and closer to the danger. I saw the documentary, he seemed a little nutty but very exited to be doing what he was doing. Like anything dangerous, the moment you lose your concentration or let your guard down, you're done.

Apparently he was pulled in too close.

Re: Grizzly Man

I saw a bit of it, but sadly I missed the best part...the end. I heard they captured the audio of his death?

The guy was nuts and did more harm than good.

They did not play the audio. Just a few people saying how horrible it sounded and the Director saying he would not play it since he did not want to make a Snuff Film. This was kind of like the end of Contact, when you sit through 2 hours of Jodi Foster in hopes of seeing a cool looking alien, and it is her father!!!

But in the name of bad taste, I will post this old Farside Cartoon:

THe guy was nuts. He was always talking about the Danger and that he could be killed. I guess his wish came true!!!
