Aaaarghhh! It was all about the others. Nothing about the Losties. We have to wait another week. Looks like our heroes are guinea pigs...test subjects of some kind. Looking for the right folks for their super race?

Re: Lost Season III-Official Discussion Thread
I've gotta say I was a bit unimpressed with the episode last night. I mean, it was alright, but it seemed to drag on, with little action, and nothing about the folks back at camp. Hope it picks up a bit next week.

Re: Lost Season III-Official Discussion Thread
I was thinking somewhere along that lines... but do you remember what the Hanso foundation was about? Some Darwinian social Utopian society... Thomas More's Utopia (written around 15th century) describes the perfect kingdom... A land without greed, and crime. If you throw in the Darwin aspect it would be a survival of the fitest, we only keep the best. I believe these others are the evolution of the Dharma initive... A project that started out as a something the Hanso foundation thought would be a cute lil experiment on a far away island, and than somehow went ary... not really sure how or why... but I think these people are the remnants of the original Hanso experiment.

Interesting how the female character assigned to Jack is conflicted. Will be interesting to watch the interplay between Jack's battle with his need to trust someone and his unwillingness to respond to her tactics with her allegiance to the Others, feelings that are likely developing for Jack and her obvious disdain for Ben. They were a little less than subtle in the setup. But I enjoyed the show last night. The bear in a cage metaphor was certainly a bit heavy handed, though. |

Re: Lost Season III-Official Discussion Thread
Yeah, I think the writers are trying to put something in our heads. The trust issue & her telling Jack her name is Julieta. I think the first couple of moments of the show were the most interesting. The earthquake, then the plane crash, then Ethan(?) telling the two guys to infiltrate the camp.
Yes a slow episode; but these are the hours that setup the great stuff.

I hope Lost doesn't dig themselves into the same hole that the X-Files did...

The first season was just about the main survivors, with some speculation that there may be other survivors somewhere else. The second season added the perspective of the people from the tail, and the story built upon that. It certainly seems that this season will add the perspective of the others, and we'll start to get a clearer picture of what's happening. |

Re: Lost Season III-Official Discussion Thread
How do you guys think they got all the info on Jack's background. Think they are still connected to the outside or did they pump him with drugs and question him? I think next week will have a lot of action with the rescue attempt.

Kate definately looks scared now.
Jack is having big time father issues. Maybe his father had a fling with his X-Wife. Sawyer is still as caulky as ever. Looking forward to next week. Hopefully they will get away or rescued from them.

I was a little bored with this episode but the show never dissappoints so I am sure next weeks will be better. It was weird seeing the small town on the island where the others live. Shawn

Re: Lost Season III-Official Discussion Thread
Yep. Kate is more comfortable in the physical world than the mental/emotional one. The Others know this. They know all of the survivors' weaknesses -- which is why they have constructed separate scenarios -- or is it levels of purgatory (???) -- for each captive.

Re: Lost Season III-Official Discussion Thread
I wondered how they knew so much about Jack-had a file four inches thick on him. And they seem to know just how to push Sawyers buttons.
Henry Gale(Ben?) seems to be in charge, but I think there is some other force behind the others-and how does Penny Widmore figure in. |

Re: Lost Season III-Official Discussion Thread
The season opener helps my theory that the island goes in cycles. The Others were obviously there before the plane crash folk, and there will be more people after them. Another plane crash in a future season perhaps. The thing that sucks though is my theory can never really be proven, but it has all the chances in the world to be disproven.
Kate and Claire are still smoking hot.
