I might have to actually catch this on TV now. I've watched the first four seasons on DVD - 5th will have to wait until it comes out. Any major developments there that I should know about before coming into the 6th season?

you dont need to get caught up on the show in order for it to be good. having said that the end of last season jack was on a slow boat ride to china with the goon squad and thats where it will begin I do believe

Everyone pretty much died in the 5th season. In the opening 10 minutes, Palmer takes a sniper round to the throat. Michelle and Tony get carbombed, killing Michelle - while Tony tries to exact his revenge, he gets punked by Jack's mentor and is injected with a lethal does of "something"...tries to fight it off, but his grief is too great and gives up the ghost (thanks for killing off my fav. character, you bastards!!!) Samwise Gamgee sucks down some lethal gas before blundering a bit as does Miles (Chloe's annoying IT partner). Jack punks his mentor. Those are some of the highlights. It's a good season.
