I'm pretty sure that's an option you get to choose when you schedule a series recording. You can tell it to record "...on this channel only" in which case it'll record whatever you've told it to, be it on the HD channel or the non-HD channel.

Now that you mention it, I think you are right. I recall seeing that option. I am glad I never had Tivo because I really love my DVR so I would hate to be disappointed.

Don't accidentally set up a series recording for Law & Order and select "Any Channel" and "All Episodes". Your box may be on fire when you get home.

I know this because my gf is a big Law & Order fan.

CSI Miami is what clogs my box up. It comes on every night on A&E, plus weekends and then the regular Monday night episode. But now I can still watch Monday night football and not miss CSI Miami.
