Pan's Labyrinth
Just finished watching this.
Great Film! Set in 40's Spain a mix of War Drama and Fairy Tale. It is English Sub'd but I was so engrossed in the film I didn't notice. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/pans_labyrinth/

Re: Pan's Labyrinth
I totally agree...I took my daughter to see it last weekend, (she's 15). Probably one of the best films I've seen in years, and she loved it, too. It's pretty "rough" in that there are quite a few graphic killings and quite a lot of blood. I would definitely not recommend it for younger (pre-teen) kids.
The subtitles didn't bother me either...It's in Spanish, in case some of you hadn't heard. Highly recommended. ![]()

Excellent film that literally works on many levels. My two buds loved it too.
My 18 yo daughter was expecting more "Lord of the Rings" as they tout in the adverts here, and she was quite dissapointed.

Re: Pan's Labyrinth
Just saw this last night with the wife and we both agreed, it's one of the year's best films. Incredible, beautifully filmed and directed with perfect economy in every scene, nothing wasted here. But what a story! The dance between fantasy and realism is tough to do, but del Toro puts together a film that has every part of the duality intense and biting. When the parts converge, it's horrible. Should have been nominated for best pic...
See it...that, and the Departed and the Queen are last years best.... |

Re: Pan's Labyrinth
i really enjoyed it too. i feel it could've had a little more fantasy in it, and less pseudo war scenes. anyone else think there were too many gunshot to people's heads scenes?

Re: Pan's Labyrinth
Saw it last night as well. My wife and I both loved it. Didn't realize it was subtitled until it started, but all good.
Definitely not your kiddie fantasy movie, nor is it LOTR, but just a beautifully shot picture. Very graphic, the "two hunters" scene established the flow on this end very early in the movie. |
