I just finished HeartSick by Chelsea Cain and liked it quite a bit.
If you like Thomas Harris, especially Red Dragon, I think you will like this.

I just looked it up, and Brandon Sanderson is going to write the final novel in the series. Hopefully this will end it. Last edited by krash; 02-23-2008 at 09:19 PM.. Reason: new info |

Re: So what books are you guys curling up with lately?
Rarely have the time to sit down for a spell and read, but I just picked up a couple books by David Allen: "Getting Things Done", and "Ready for Anything". Maybe the concepts and practices I glean from these books will result in my having the time to read more!

"God is Not Great: How religion Poisons Everything" by Christian Hitchens
A good reading, I must say. Bible thumpers and blind followers would hate this book. ![]() ![]()

"The Ghost Brigade" by John Scalzi. I powered through "Old Man's War" last night. Curled up on the couch with the book, some music playing, and next thing I knew 5 hours had passed! And the book made me laugh out loud a few times, too. Always a good sign in my book.

Re: So what books are you guys curling up with lately?
"Make The Kaiser Dance: The American Experience in World War One". I bought this a few years ago, put it on the shelf and haven't actually read it until now.
Brings some of my grandfather's old tales to life...this is incredible oral history work. I'm glad somebody got this down on paper thirty years ago, before we were down to only one survivor of the Great War--or as some would call it, with reason, the first half of The World War. A quote that caught my attention...a soldier on the front line on November 11, 1918, hearing the Germans cheering after the Armistice...and musing, "I wonder if we whipped 'em enough".

Re: So what books are you guys curling up with lately?
Bought a lot recently.
Including: Picture of Dorian Grey Economics in One Lesson His Excellency (book about George Washington) Cancel Your Own Goddam Subscription (collection of letters written to readers of his magazine by the late William F. Buckley Jr.) and last, but not least, Burr by Gore Vidal. I'm sure reading Buckley and Vidal at the same time should prove to have some literary dissonance! haha And also all my textbooks for my course schedule. |
