I just finished Stephen King's "Night Shift" collection yesterday. It's been a while since I've read him and I completely forgot that the guy could write so well. His recent stuff hasn't impressed me much, and these 20 short stories (and I mean really short...some are under 10 pages) are all great in their own way; I especially liked the offbeat ones (for King of course, that means stories that aren't about trucks with minds of their own or grisly murders).

I'm currently working my way through two Vonneguts (Slaughterhouse Five which I'm meh about and Cat's Cradle which I love) and one really bad assigned detective novel for my overly easy 'Popular Fiction" course.

I don't have any BOTL friends, so I smoke alone 99% of the time. In the winter I get bored sitting in my car while smoking, so I usually bring a book along. So far this winter, I've read:

Make Love, The Bruce Campbell Way
Roses Are Red, by James Patterson
Bad Twin- This is the LOST book. It was "written" by one of the characters that was on the plane when it crashed. We don't know which one though. It's getting pretty interesting. Haven't finished it yet.

And I've been reading the text book for A+ certification, I'll go for the test when I've finished reading it.

How's Patterson by the way? I actually have to pick a recent bestseller (2000 and forward) for my class at the end of the semester and don't want to read any recent King or Clancy since I've heard their recent stuff is terrible (especially Clancy).

This is the first book I've read by him... I thought it was great. I'm usually a pretty slow reader, but I blasted through this one. I think I actually sat down and read it for less than 10 sessions. I'm getting ready to pick up the sequel(Violets are Blue) I really like the Alex Cross character, and the mystery part is pretty fun... You literally don't know the whole story until the last page.

Rivers to Run by Larry Dablemont - history of fishing Ozark streams prior to the construction of reservoirs on the White River system. Pretty cool stuff for a hillbilly river rat such as myself.

Here is a little bit of an older thread that discusses what people are currently reading.

I just finished the Sackett series by Louis L'Amour, read "Eyes of the Dragon" by Stephen King the other night, and now I'm working on reading the "Mountain Man" series by William W. Johnstone.
