Thumbs up Re: The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford

I really enjoyed this movie. It is a slow cooker, as has been pointed out, but I didn't find it boring at all! I enjoyed the pressure-building pace, but then, I don't need movies to come at me like a car chase all the time.

It's beautifully shot and reminded me of old photographs or daguerreotypes. Great performance from Brad Pitt who played James as at times warm and likable, and alternately as something mythic and terrifying. His Jesse James seemed all-knowing and capable of anything. Casey Affleck was brilliant enough to win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as Robert Ford. AND, did anyone else notice that the singer/guitar player in the saloon was none other than Nick Cave?! Again, great choice! Who does a murder ballad better than Nick Cave?! Nobody, that's who!

Books often inspire folks to see the movie, but this movie inspired me to seek out the book!

Agree with everything you said. But, I still believe the movie was 20 minutes to long. Other than that it was a great movie and yes Casey was great also, he is really coming into his own.

Hold on a sec. You think the movie is slow, boring even... and yet you haven't seen it?

Quite possibly the worst movie I have seen in a long time.

Re: The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford

This movie was SO long and drawn out. They kill Jesse and I'm thinking the movie must be over and then it goes on even more! I like the concept of the movie and I learned some interesting things about Robert Ford, but I think they could have made it much shorter.
