The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford

I've been hearing buzz about this for a bit now and got really excited once I heard the casting choices. Well, seems someone just caught a super secret test screening of this flick scheduled to be released late this year.

I have to say, after reading this little mini-review I'm SUPER Psyched about this film. Here's the link, no spoilers:

No prob, I try to stay up on Movie News as I'm almost as big of a Movie Whore as I am a Cigar Whore

Also one to keep a lookout for is the Stephen King adaptation 1408 (and I promise it doesn't sound like the crap King adaptations that have been released recently... this one looks promising)

This movie has a huge cast, I wonder if this one will be any good.

True that could be a hindrance like some other larger cast movies that just flopped. However it could also turn into a "Magnolia" or a "Boogie Nights" where not only is the large cast not a detriment to the movie but in fact completes the movie on a level a small cast would not be able to achieve.

Obviously Brad Pitt's in it so it will be good to see how he continues to grow as an actor after the impeccable "Babel". However I'm more excited to see Casey Affleck's performance as I think he's highly underatted but can really shine in a movie like this. I mean he was EXCELLENT in both "Lonesome Jim" and "Gerry". Both remarkable performances.

Hmmm, just heard word that this film is going to have a modified Title in the US. It appears its being shortened to "The Assassination Of Jesse James".

Such a shame, I really dug the name. Oh well, that's pretty par for the course for the US film market always changing shit and making it more appealing rather than sticking with the intended plan. Takes away some artistic creativity IMO

I hope it's only the title they cut and not the film itself. At 140 mins, it must be tempting for some boneheaded studio suit to wade in with the pruning shears.

The review makes it sound very intriguing, for the story and mise en scène, as well as the cast and crew.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely be watching out for this one.

Yeah but the director for Boogie Nights and Magnolia is amazing. This film does sound very interesting, Brad Pitt is a very good actor-great job in Babel.

I just thougt it was interesting you used the phrase mise en scene. Not a term I expected to hear on this forum.

Yeah, they shorten this title, yet a movie called "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan" makes 200 Million....
