After The Sunset

Went to see this movie one day to kill some time before picking my car up after having it serviced. I figured, Pierce Brosnan & Salma Hayek can't be too bad. Turns out it wasn't bad at all. In fact it was quite enjoyable. Nothing original or exciting but very fun.

Pierce Brosnan & Salma Hayek play a retired couple whose previous occupation was stealing rare gems. They have settled down in Paradise on an island and are enjoying the fruits of their labors. After awhile they start getting stir crazy. Enter Woody Harrelson. Harrelson's character is the FBI agent that has been chasing the two for his entire career. I know, its unoriginal and very un-inspired but its very fun to watch. The movie is more about the relationship between these 3 than anything else but watching them interact is very amusing.

This movie is similar in style to "The Thomas Crown Affair" with less imagination. However the acting abilities of most of the cast is classy and subtle. This film was however, most definitely made by a man as there is a whole lotta Salma Hayek in this film. Sadly not enough to Garner an R rating but still there is a lot of skin exposed. It gives me greater appreciation for Salma Hayek ( I hear she's damn smart too )

Overall very enjoyable with a lively cast, beautiful scenery and a light hearted attitude. Don't go in expecting an Oscar nod but go in expecting a good time.

I thought of this movie too when I read this... But I have a feeling that the original with Steve MCqueen is better than that with Brosnan... BTW A friend of mine has MCQueen as is favourite actor... and I borrowed "Getaway" (have to see that one soon... have seen it before and remember it was good..)... I know there is a re-make of that movie too... I like Sam Peckinpah movies too... Give me the head of Alfredo Garcia!!!!!

OK, a bit off the topic...

Re: After The Sunset

The original Thomas Crown sucked I thought. I watched it because I thought it would be better also. But I thought it sucked.

I do want to see After the Sunset.....I'll probably check it out.

Thanks for the review.
