Great Show. That rogue wave from las year was unreal. This season is off to a bad start for the fishermen.

The second show of the season is tonight. I'll be firing up a Nording by RP. My favorite boat is The Northwestern. Sig cracks me up. What an awesome show.

I watched it and it was a good one. Dude brought bad karma to his boat when he screwed with the Maverick's pot. Bye bye prop. I was very funny though, along with with bage of flour!

Somebody goes overboard next week.

Yeah, but he shared tips with Blake and specifically told him not to tell anyone else and Blake immediatly blabbed his mouth off to other boats. Didn't the Maverick break down last year also?

Re: Deadliest Catch

I discovered this show recently and love it! One thing I always wonder though, is are all the featured boats part of a single fleet all owned by the same people/person, or are they all out there on their own?

They're all on their own
A few of the boats help each other out though

I'm not positive, but I believe they are all just from the same place and dock at the same place. I think I've heard Mike Rowe say how some of the captains own their boats

Re: Deadliest Catch

Interesting...

I spent the past couple minutes looking through the the show's website, and they have mini-bios for each boat. Fun to read and it does indicate that a lot of the captains are owners or part owners of the boats. It also talks about quotas, including this bit:

"Capt. Keith Colburn of Redmond, Wash., has served at the helm of the Wizard for the last 14 years. He took a huge risk in 2005 purchasing the Wizard without any of her valuable crab quota. A World War II-era ship that was converted into a fishing vessel in 1978, the Wizard, a perennial top five producer, is one of the largest vessels in the fleet at 155 feet in length. Being forced to lease his entire crab quota, Keith struggled in his first year owning the Wizard. This season the stakes are that much higher for his ship and crew."

Anyway its all here,

Re: Deadliest Catch

Yeah, I think they all dock out of Dutch Harbor.

Check out this site for bios. Most of the captains are owners or part owners.
http://dsc.discovery.com/fansites/de...bios/bios.html

Although they are all owned individually, some of the captains watch each others backs and help each other out when needed.

I originally didn't see the appeal of the show, but my roommate watches it and I'm hooked.
