Sicko by Michael Moore

SICKO

I knew very little about health insurance and the HMO industry. After watching this film I HIGHLY Recommend it for everyone. My wife works for a non profit organization dealing with a blood disorder called Thalassemia and she has to fight tooth and nail with these HMO companies just so that her patients are properly cared for.

I love my country, but after watching this movie I felt like I got punched in the stomach by our government and stifled by the HMO companies.

This movie will open your eyes to a world of humanity and consciousness.

SOMEWHERE James???,

every review I've seen of this readily admits it's skewed, no surprise there.

The only way this movie can be considered accurate is if you apply the title of it to it's producer, IMHO.

Re: Sicko by Michael Moore

last friday I had to rush my boss to the emergency room with a pulmonary embolism. While we were waiting to be seen in the waiting room a woman came in with her little girl (i'd say 7-8 years old). The mother told the receptionist that her daughter was being treated for poison ivy and it hadn't cleared up yet.........I'm no doctor but this was clearly no emergency, the little girl was happy laughing and playing around.

There are lots of things wrong with our health care system that have nothing to do with the institutions already in place, IMHO. Maybe people should take responsibility for their own actions that contribute to the problem and we can go from there.

I am skeptical about watching any Michael Moore film (all of his films should be taken with a grain of salt), but I do believe this movie deserves it's own merit.

Analysis: 'Sicko' numbers mostly accurate; more context needed
POSTED: 3:09 p.m. EDT, June 29, 2007

(CNN) -- Michael Moore's "Sicko," which opened nationwide Friday, is filled with horror stories of people who are deprived of medical service because they can't afford it or haven't been able to navigate the murky waters of managed care in the United States.

It compares American health care with the universal coverage systems in Canada, France, the United Kingdom and Cuba.

Moore covers a lot of ground. Our team investigated some of the claims put forth in his film. We found that his numbers were mostly right, but his arguments could use a little more context. As we dug deep to uncover the numbers, we found surprisingly few inaccuracies in the film. In fact, most pundits or health-care experts we spoke to spent more time on errors of omission rather than disputing the actual claims in the film.

Angry Re: Sicko by Michael Moore

I've never seen it yet, but I'm not a big fan of Mr. Moore.

I'll give him some credit for bringing some subjects to people's mind so they can start talking about it and hopefully help make some changes for the better.

I heard he doesn't show everything that really goes on, such as in Canada. Sure we got free health care but you might as well shoot yourself in the head in order to be served...even then you might have to wait for more than 10 hours!!!!

Another thing they don't mention is that if you want a semi-private room (two beds) it's about $200.00 a night. Hell, it's almost cheaper to go to a hotel!

Also, a lot of nurses aren't trained properly due to the shortage of them. Basiacally they'll hire anyone.

For example, I went to the hospital a few years ago due to a serious allergic reaction to I believe was MSG. I had trouble breathing and my Father was near by. They suddenly injected me with something.

Afterwards the nurse asked my Father if I was allergic to insulin. My Father said "Well thank god no!" What if I was. I bet she would of said:

"Oh. Ooops! Sorry".

It's good to have free health care don't get me wrong, but the point is even though some places get it for free, I'm sure he doesn't talk about waiting lists for certain patients, and what really goes on in waiting rooms.

One more point about Mr. Moore. I really believe he looks for trouble so he can jump on it and turn it into a documentary.

Take the documentary "Super Size Me". At least that one was told in a very comedic nature and felt more like watching someone doing a personal bet as oppose to someone who just likes complaining.

That's my opinon.

This review stops a little short of the truth. m. moore is not a documentary film maker, he is a propaganda film maker,in the mold of Leni Riefenstahl,(hitler's gal director). He mixes fact with innuendo, opinion, convenient omission, and sometimes outright lies in order to espouse his views. When it comes to healthcare he believes in a socialist solution. IMO, the reason healthcare is so screwed up is the govt. got involved in the first place. When medicare/medicaid started, the health industry saw they could get away with charging higher prices outside the free market and it snowballed from there. Once it got to the point where the average joe couldn't pay for his doctor visits out of pocket (and it wasn't all that long ago) insurance companies got involved, then HMO's etc. If the market would dictate these costs, they would be much lower. Moore believes the exact opposite, that all people are "entitled" to gov't paid for health care, as well as education, job security, etc. and that market forces should not be involved in areas such as these. That is socialism, not what our founding fathers espoused when this country was formed. It's alright to have these opinions, just don't pretend they are anything but socialist in nature.

Nicholas....come on now, do you reallly feel the Communist News Network would say anything different? The only reason they even admit that he falsifies facts is because they have no choice, it's common knowledge
