Ah, I am not familiar with that graphic novel. I might have to check that out ASAP. I'm a big fan of the older Batman graphic novel: Arkham ******, that one is GREAT!

JN was so completely over the top to me I never really bought it. Heath Ledger seems to bring a certain gravity to the role and the Joker kinda needs that to work against Batman. I mean both of them are completely crazy, just in different ways.

Re: The Dark Knight Trailer

I am a big Batman fan, mainly because of Frank Miller. His Dark Knight series and Year One graphic novel are my favorite Batman comics. In Miller's world, Batman is a mean, cruel baddass with the ability to kick Superman's ass. And Batman Begins is closer to the Miller aesthetic than any of the Tim Burton movies. Batman Begins is the best superhero movies I've ever seen (actually one of my favorite films of the last 10 years). As far as The Dark Knight, I can't wait. I prefer the Joker as a dark, pathological killer rather than the comical portrayals in the past (comics, TV, film). Lookin' forward to it...

I couldn't agree more. This is what makes them perfect enemies, and so compelling to watch!

Now you got me all excited again

Re: The Dark Knight Trailer

I'll be interested in seeing this version of The Joker. You have to remember that the Joker has never been a static character. He is the foil to Batman, and so, as Batman has changed over the years and in his many incarnations, so has the Joker.

This will be very interesting to watch.

Bale, I think, makes a great Batman and a decent Bruce Wayne....something Keaton just couldn't pull off. He just didn't transition well between the two parts he was required to play. And, yes, they were and still are two separate parts, in my mind. In fact, none of the subsequent recastings adequately pulled off the dual role.

I like the Burton movie for it's comic book quality, though the sequels took it a bit too far, into campy horror territory. The Nolan version sits very well with me, but I was a fan of the Batman Detective series.

Ahhh...you definitely need to pick it up. It's the definitive roots of the Joker graphic novel - if you ever wondered about where he came from, it's there as well as the thin-line thread of life and death relationship between Batman and the Joker is also explored. It's one of the greats.

I was really looking forward to the new Batman but now I can't wait. Imo The Killing Joke was/is a classic. Now thats the sort of Joker I want to see. None of the face paint stuff, he's scarred , he's sick, he was kidnapping people and trying to kill batgirl. And even after being deafeated he still has a joke to tell (which even made Batman crack a smile), classic. He was a bit more lighthearted then the Joker is now but still really dark and cool. I'm glad you brought that up non of my friends have ever read The Killing Joke.

And Maggie Gyllenhal - don't forget her! She's in it as well - which ups the ante for me!

I really enjoyed the first one, I hope this one does not disappoint. The sequals to the original Batman films were pretty bad. Christian Bale is a great Batman, in my opinon he's much better than Michael Keaton.

here's why I think TDK will be worth the wait:
1: Christopher nolan gets it - he's well versed with the Batman mythos from the comics. and he's a great story teller.

2. Christian Bale KNOWS the role - he's said that he's honored to be playing such an iconic charater.

3: Christopher Nolan gets it!

As a professed comic geek I have great confidence hat this will be a good follow up to Batman Begins

As a Batman Fan I've been tracking this one closely - saw a pirated posting of an imax showing of about 8 min of the movie, and based on the trailer and the footage I've seen this is going to be great. . . I was worried early on about the angle they were taking on the Joker (wearing make up instaed of being physically/chemically altered) but the more I read and see the more I think it's going to rock. . . I for one can't wait
