Need Good Info on I.P.A.'s

I don't know if there are any I.P.A.'s that I would like. I have only tried two: One was Goose Island, and the other was a homemade brew from a friend. The Goose Island, I just could not enjoy because of the bitterness. The homebrew I liked.

Are there any store-bought I.P.A.'s that are not on the bitter end of the spectrum?

If you don't like the Goose because of the bitterness you might be out of luck. Goose IPA is an English style IPA which tend to be on the mild side when it comes to bitterness. You may Bells Two Hearted which has more of a grapefruit bitterness which many people find pleasing. One you also might find locally is Founders Centennial IPA which is similar to the Bells.

Sorry to say, but not really. IPAs are traditionally and historically bitter. Tone it down to a Pale Ale and you'll have what you're looking for. Hope this helps.

Be careful what pale ales you try. Something like Sierra Nevada or Three Floyds Alpha King (both available where you are) will pucker you up.

Or it could be that you'd better appreciate an IPA that's more well-balanced, with malt flavors to complement the hops. I recommend Belhaven Twisted Thistle IPA or maybe Abita Brewing Company's Jockamo IPA. Both have good balance.

Finally, while it's not an IPA by definition, Troegs Hopback Amber Ale has a slight hoppy bitterness that is a perfect complement to its malty character. Outstanding with a medium to full-bodied cigar, and a nice way to enjoy hops without being overpowered by them!

Also Magic Hat #9 might be a good one to try for you. They call it a "not quite pale ale."

Yeah, I've got no beef with the king either. Magic Hat seems like a good suggestion, I find it a little too sweet but it is very popular and a good gateway beer.

Friday night, I picked up some Jockamo IPA, and had a 5 Vegas Serie A with it. Great combination! The IPA really made the flavors pop.
