My turn to buy
A group of friends and I get together a couple times a month for cigars and the responsibility for providing liquid refreshment rotates. It's my turn to buy. This time I want to bring Scotch. Personally, I prefer a good smoky, peaty Islay like Lagavulin but not everyone who will be there will be smoking cigars that are full bodied enough to stand up to something like that. Anyone have a recommendation that might be a little lighter but still have those flavors?

Re: My turn to buy
I really like Cragganmore when I'm looking for a lighter bodied scotch. Still has the peatiness, and smokey flavors, but a little lighter with some woody and vanilla undertones.
I like the strong tastes of Islay as well, especially Laphroaig. Don't know if you've ever had it, but the smell and taste really makes you envision a Scottish sea side. Big smokey, salty, peaty flavors. So anyway if your looking for a lighter Scotch I'd try that Cragganmore. I think you'd like it. |

Re: My turn to buy
I have had Laphroaig but not often enough and never with a cigar and you're right, it's absolutely stunning. Maybe I'll pick up a bottle of Cragganmore for the gang and a bottle of Laphroaig for savoring at home. Thanks for the recommendations.
